FILM FESTIVAL:
Nepal Indigenous Film Festival, New York is a trademark of FIPNA initiated in 2017 on the commemoration of International Day of the World Indigenous Peoples. With a deliberate intention of promoting and inspiring the indigenous film makers in Nepal, this festival has been conceptualized and developed in New York. Usually the indigenous films are highly marginalized by the mainstream films in Nepal. The indigenous films do not get the exposure in the mainstream market due to the discriminatory policies of the government. If, somehow, some of the films make their way to the mainstream then a very high censorship of the government makes the film worthless to watching it and difficult to survive. Therefore, with a single sided policy to promote, inspire and motivate film makers to pursue their career in indigenous film making in Nepal, FIPNA has thus hosted this festival in proud memory of those indigenous heroes who have fought to preserve the cultural rights of the indigenous peoples globally. This festival is a tribute to those global indigenous heroes.
